This page desperately needs an update! It is now 2024, and SO much has happened since my last entry in 2018..... exhibitions, arts residency, and publications.
Stay tuned. x
September 2018 I received the exciting news that my work, 'Standing Tall' was selected for 'Family Matters': the USA Surface Design Association's International Exhibition in Print (juried).
Along with 21 other international fibre artists, my work was featured in SDA's Journal Winter 2018 edition (to learn more or buy a copy, head to https://surfacedesign.z2systems.com/…/surfaced…/product.jsp…&). Following that happy moment a subsequent and commissioned article about my art and creative practice was published on SDA's Forum in March 2019.

Beyond the Seam: Conceptual works in Fibre Art brings together the work of 12 national and international contemporary artists.
Curated by Martien van Zuilen, the exhibition explores how fibre art, its materiality and the various processes of making can engage our understanding of the tactile and transformative potential of working with cloth, natural materials and thread. Individually and together, the artists extend the possibilities of fibre traditions within a contemporary setting, and by extension provide a timely platform (and tactile surfaces) to document and communicate their explorations of socio-cultural topics, concerns and ideas.
Featuring:
Kate Campbell-Pope Albany, WA
Helen Coleman, Mandurah, WA
Ruth Halbert, Denmark, WA
Philomena Hali, Alice Springs, NT
Anita Larkin, Shellharbour, NSW
Aimee Lee, Ohio, USA
Vicki Mason, Melbourne, VIC
Amanda McCavour, Toronto, Canada
Jan Mullen, Fremantle, WA
Caitlin Stewart, Narrogin, WA
Robi Szalay, South Perth, WA
Martien van Zuilen, North Perth, WA

August 2016
It has been a busy year thus far. In May I finally got around to setting up and sending out my very first E-newsletter - for those of you who signed up to receive this newsletter many moons ago, thank you for your patience. There was lots of exciting news to share about classes I taught during May and June in the USA, and other classes closer to home including in my hometown of Perth.
I had my work included in several international magazines: Fiber Art Now (USA) and FELT, Australia national felting magazine with international reach.
And on that note, as of June this year, I am the new editor of FELT
I follow in the footsteps of Jennie Curtis, who is leaving big shoes to fill. It is a challenge I relish. DO get in touch if you are interested in having your work considered for inclusion in FELT, which appears twice a year (June and December); send an email to [email protected]
FELT is published by Artwear Publications
Last but not least, I was delighted to have my work included in ‘Worldwide Colours of Felt’, a new publication by Ellen Bakker of TextielLink.nl. Here's part of the media release: The book ‘Worldwide colours of felt’ brings together unique and beautiful works of felt from over 40 countries to form a feast of colour and inspiration. Over 500 artists from across the world add colour to this remarkable project. Felt objects, clothing, figures, jewels and utensils are displayed in cheerful red, cool blue, serene white, mysterious purple . . . In ten chapters, every colour will fully manifest itself, as all are preceded by a short story in which a participant tells something about her favourite colour.
Over 800 images are accompanied by portrait photographs of the artists and their web address.
The book is available through www.TextielLink.nl
